What is a Jack Pocket Knife?
A Jack knife also known as a “traditional Jack pocket knife” or “old fashion Jack knife” is a two bladed pocket knife. These blades are made of stainless and carbon steel. The blade configuration is as follows; the largest blade on the Jack is the clip blade, directly behind the clip blade is a smaller pen blade. Both of the blades are slip-joint non locking blades (the backspring of the knife creates a “snap” that keeps the blade from closing). Jack knives usually have three polished nickel silver bolsters. These bolsters can be squared or rounded depending on the exact model.
How big are Jack Knives?
Jack pocket knives range in size from 2 7/8 inches overall closed to 3 5/8 inches overall closed. The smallest are considered Tiny Jack Knives followed by Small Jack Knives then Standard or Medium Jack Knives and the largest are Large Jack Knives. The most popular of all the sized is the medium/standard, these knives are normally around 3 1/2 inches closed.
