The Gerber Automatic knives have a slide safety that engages both open and closed positions and a more prominent release button for use with gloves. Additionally, they have a lanyard hole that works with 550 cables and a stainless steel pommel with a strike point. These knives provide exceptionally secure grips while using the blade or the handle, thanks to its entire plain edge, tanto blade, and textured G10 handle. The S30V, a premium stainless steel that can withstand extraordinary abuse and maintain its edge with unmatched retention, is used to make the stainless steel blades. Most of the blades in these knives are black oxide coated with tanto blades, some have drop point blades, whereas some have serrated blades. The anodized aluminum handles in these knives have a comparatively lighter feel. Some of the handles in the knives also feature armored grip, giving them an ergonomic feel. The Gerber Automatic knives feature glass breakers and a safety switch, features that make them a must for outdoor trips.
