Denix Replica 18th century Flintlock Series is a premium range of pistols. It mimics the pistol manufactured by the Arsenal at St. Etienne for the French cavalry at the end of the 18th century. These pistols were extensively used as pirate firearms until the middle of the 19th century. It worked on a flint or flint stone mechanism, which when triggered by the hammer produced the spark that ignited the gunpowder. The ammunition consisted of gunpowder, a projectile, and a paper wad. It was a time-consuming process and hence not an ideal weapon for combat. The Denix 18th century Flintlock series is famed for its exact replication of all the intricate details of the pistols. Most of the pistols in the range are forged from wood stock with antique brass and grey finish metal barrels. These pistols have metal accents that enhance their grandeur. The non-firing replicas feature a simulated mechanism of loading and firing that gives a glimpse into the actual functioning of the pistols.
